Comberton Juniors secure County Junior League Division II title

Following hard on the heels of our Junior Third team’s Division III title the Second Team have wrapped up Division II after another convincing performance at Crown Lodge on 16 March.

In contrast to the Third Team, the Second Team squad has been rotated a lot through the season, with a total of nine players representing the Club in Division II. It’s an indication of our strength that we’ve still managed to win the division by a comfortable margin.

Our team for the final fixture was Ollie Thorne, Tom Blair, and Will Collett. In the match against St Ivo,Will battled to find consistency, but still came very close to levelling the match at one game all before losing 3-0. Tom recorded a comprehensive win, conceding only three points in his match, and Ollie maintained control over a skilful opponent to gain a 3-0 win, giving us a 9-3 victory overall.

Our other scheduled opponents, Fenland, failed to raise a team, so we had a 12-0 walkover there. Instead we played a friendly against Hunts County, and it was gratifying to see all three Comberton players victorious in their friendly matches!

Final points tally in Division II:-

1.Comberton114
2.Hunts County – 87
3.St Ivo – 70
4.Melbourn – 44
5.Crown Lodge – 41
6.Fenland – 38
