Xmas Fun Doubles

After the crazy games of the morning, we decided to have a competitive game of doubles complete with santa hats as well as eye protection. Just a single game to 11 was played but these were very hard-fought. And extra points were usefully on offer when the games went to tie-breaks

Here are the final results:
First place Rory and Tom Symmons - won 4 matches for 49 pts
Second place Henry Prime and Martyn - won 1 match for 44 pts
Third place Jo Weavers and Julie Miller - won 3 matches for 41 pts
Fourth Place Chris Shaw and Sam Prime - won 1 match for 38 pts
Fifth place - Ollie and Will Thorne - won 1 match for 29 pts.

Well done everyone.
Merry Christmas and see you in the New Year.

Xmas Fun Competition

We had great fun on Saturday - thanks to all of the juniors who took part in the crazy antics on court. The clear favorite was the inflated elephant-shaped balloons that Mike brought. And one of the challenges forced on the better player in each game was to play with one held between their legs - which gave the edge to the cut the better players down to size!

Merry Christmas to everyone.

So the final scores were:

Rory Symmons 21 pts
Chris Shaw 19 pts
Sam Prime 16 pts
Josh Harland-Meers 15 pts
Henry Prime 13 pts
Ollie Thorne 12 pts
Will Thorne 10 pts
Tom Symmons 8 pts

Court use during school time.

After discussion with the School it has been decided that Juniors must not use the club during the school day.

(Unless they are taking part in a school session supervised by a teacher obviously.)

This is because accidents could happen to pupils who are the School's responsibility. Please let all your friends know that this is the rule.

Remember that if you are a Junior who cannot book courts then you must be supervised by a teacher or a coach whenever you are on court.

Remember to wear your goggles whenever you are on court playing. We have had a player hurt close to their eye recently because they were not wearing goggles. If a squash ball or racquet hits someone's eye then they may lose the sight in it permanently.

Comberton fourth team successes

Our junior fourth team produced a very good performance in their opening fixture at Fenland Squash Club on November 29. Only our no. 1, Jamie Sandford, had played in the Cambs Leagues before. Jamie’s first match, against Cambridge Squash Club, saw him take the first two games, but unfortunately at the end of the second game his opponent injured himself and had to retire. Finn Savage at no. 2 had a tremendous battle vs. Fenland, but after a determined showing in the third game, which he won 14-12, he took the fourth comfortably to round off a 3-1 win. Ed Tucker, our no. 3, has only been playing squash for a few months, but easily defeated the Fenland no. 3 in straight games.

Jamie produced a superb display against the Fenland no. 1, losing only 8 points in the match, and this gave us an overall 12-1 win over Fenland (including three bonus points). Finn, meanwhile, found the Cambridge no. 2 a tough opponent, and struggled to cope with his hard serves, but nevertheless accumulated a respectable tally of points, especially in the first game, which he lost 13-11. Cambridge were unable to field a third player, so Ed got a walkover, giving us an overall 9-3 win over the Cambridge team. He rounded off his afternoon with a comfortable 3-0 win over the Crown Lodge no. 3 in a ladder challenge match.

A great start to our quest for silverware in Division 3 this season – well done all three of you!
