CVC Under 15s make an impressive start in this season’s National Schools Squash Championship

In their first match, away to Bedford School, Comberton were too strong overall for their opponents, recording a handsome 4-1 victory. Alex Gooding at #5 battled back well after dropping the second game, achieving a 3-1 win, while Jeremy Harris at #4 stayed well in control for a 3–0 win. Both Will Collett at #3 and Sam Bradshaw at #2 outplayed their opponents for most of their matches, Will having a close first game and Sam a close third game, but the end results were identical: 3-0 to Comberton! Tom Blair at #1 had the difficult task of taking on Bedford’s outstanding player, who also plays at #1 in their Under 19 team, and although he did well to level the match at one game all he was unable to prevent the Bedford player from running out a 3-1 winner.

Finally Tim Lloyd-Kinnings played well against a tough opponent in a friendly sixth string match.

This is a very good start for Comberton – one more win from our next two matches should see us through to Stage Two of the competition for the fourth year in succession.
