Comberton juniors put in solid county performances.

There was a good turn-out from Comberton Juniors for the Cambridgeshire County Closed Tournament last weekend at Hunts County.

Many of our players put in solid performances but were not able to reach the finals of either the main event or the plate due to the luck of the draw. For some it was more about dealing with the pressure of the competition rather than their squash skills as many of our players were facing more experienced competitors. Quite a number of our juniors pushed through to finals but were not able to clinch the title position. But they was all worthy runners-up:

Rob Dadds (runner-up in U19 boys); Tom Symmons (runner-up in U17 boys); Amy Lamb (runner-up U17 girls); Selina Leung (runner-up U15 girls); and Finn Savage (Plate runner-up U13 boys);

Jeremy Harris was runner-up in the U15 boys competition. But in this case he was beaten by our new U15 champion Tom Blair whose powerful game was in full swing.

And we saw two excellent winning performances in Plate finals: Jack Murphy played an exciting final in the U17 boys plate to take that trophy, and Chris Shaw also stepped his game up a gear to win the U19 plate.

Well done to these finalists and to all our competitors.
