Comberton Juniors do well in End of Season tournament

Comberton Juniors performed well in the Tucker Gardner End of Season tournament last weekend.

Comberton had about twice as many players in the tournament as any
other club. We had some players entering for the first time and it was useful experience for them even though they were facing the best players from other clubs.

Our girls in particular found that it was quite a tough competition with many top players from other clubs turning out. And so they went home empty handed this year.

Our boys had more success and picked up quite a number of prizes:

Jeremy Harris played excellently to win the under-11 main event.

It was a completely Comberton result in the under-13 boys with Tom Symmons winning the main event and Will Harris winning the plate.

Tom Symmons fought hard in the early stages of the under-15 main event but was narrowly defeated by Toby Reeves (St Ivo).

For the older boys special mention goes to Euan Macnamee who got through to both the under-17 and the under-19 semi-finals but then both times faced Ahmad El-Refee (Hunts County) who was the eventual winner of both competitions.

In the finals Ahmad faced two different Comberton opponents: Nils Downes and Rory Symmons who were runners-up to him in the under-19 and under-17 events. They both put up strong attacks also in Nils case he was recovering from a tough semi-final against Rory earlier in the day!

Finally Andy Hall won the under-19 plate in fine style.

Well done everyone!
