Easter Holiday Coaching

For the next three Saturdays (31st March, 7th April, 14th April) we will be running only a single session.

This will be from 10.30 to 12.00 and will cover all levels.

The junior club tournament schedules are on the board so if you can see a match that you can play then go for it! Remember to write in your result and that, if you lose your first match in a non-handicap tournament, you will be eligible to enter your name for the 'plate' competition.

The order of play in the plate will be decided after we have enough names to set up the first round.

Juniors and Club Tournaments

It is that time of year when the Comberton Club Tournaments are nearly here. We will be starting the Junior Tournaments this week.

Look on the noticeboard for the player line-up to see your opponent and your starting handicap.

What tournaments will there be?

Under-16 Junior Tournament
Under-11 Junior Tournament
Under-16 Handicap Tournament
Under-11 Handicap Tournament
Combined under-11 under-16 plate competition - if you lose your first game in a non-handicap tournament (including qualifying round) you are eligible for this.

Age limits
To enter a tournament you must have been under that age at the start of the season (1st September 2006).

Under-16 Junior Tournament
Best of five games, normal scoring to 9 points.

Under-11 Junior Tournament
Best of three games, professional scoring - point each rally to 11 but if 10-all is reached then tie-break when one player has to win by two clear points - that could be 13:11, or 15:13, or 103,101 (phew!).

Under-16 Handicap Tournament
Best of three games, professional scoring as for the under-11 above. But starting scores for each game determined by your handicapping number.

For example if player has handicap +6 then each game starts on 6:0 to them.

Or if player has handicap -6 then each game starts on -6:0 against them.

If players have handicaps with opposite signs then both are used:
For example Player A with -6 player B with +6 then each game starts on -6:6.

If players have handicaps with the same sign then lower one starts on zero and the other is offset by the difference between their handicaps.

For example player A with +6 player B with +2 then each game starts on +4:0.

Or player A with -4 player B with -2 then each game starts on -2:0.

Under-11 Handicap Tournament
Same as under-16 handicap tournament.

Plate tournament
Same as under-11 main tournament.
